Fulgurites are a variety of the Mineraloid Lechatelierite. Some are natural hollow tubes and often formed when lightning strikes Quartz sand, silica, or soil and fuses it at extreme temperatures hotter than the sun. Sometimes they are referred to asΒ ‘Petrified Lightning’.Β
